FOG waste treatment by saponification

Fat, Oil, & Grease (FOG) waste causes numerous operational problems at WWT plants and in food industries. The treatment unit uses the saponification process to chemically transform these macromolecules into short-chained, easy-to-handle molecules and fluidise the FOG waste.

The treatment unit can be installed on site at WWT plant and food production site, or a mobile treatment unit (a vacuum pump track) can provide an on-site treatment service to small-scale operations such as restaurants, hospitals, and commercial facilities where grease traps cause a recurrent problem such as bad odour, frequent cleaning, etc.

Saponified FOG waste may be discharged directly into a sewage (if authorised) as saponified and soluble FOG waste are proven to be a bio-booster. It can also be fed into an anaerobic digester to boost the biogas production.

Liquid level meter with air bubbler system

This level meter uses the internally produced air bubbles to measure the liquid level. It can be used for continuous hydrometry monitoring, industrial level metering in a reservoir, etc.  Only the bubbling tube is in contact with the liquid, so it can be used for dangerous liquids and easily adaptable to an ATEX environment.

3 point measurement Clamp-on flowmeter

This clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter with thermometric capacity can conduct 3 independent measurements simultaneously.

With its touch panel transmitter and an easy sensor setup with velcro straps or by a bracket tightened by a butterfly screw, it is the easiest-to-use clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter in the market. Calibration is automated and the sensor positioning is guided internally based on the input parameters. Three sensor pairs can be connected to a single transmitter when multiple measurements are needed (each measurement point with its own parameter setting).

This flowmeter uses the ultrasound propagation through a fluid to calculate the flow rate and the temperature of the fluid inside a pipe. The flowmeter can easily be mounted on a pipe without having to stop the flow. No moving piece, it requires very little need for maintenance. The flowmeter can be used for various fluids such as milk, oils, fruit juice, coolant, etc as long as there is no or little suspended matter and air bubbles. The flowmeter can also be used as a calorimeter (up to 60°C for water) as well. It is adapted to DN6 to DN1000 pipes.

Compact biowaste depacker / Organic extractor

The depacker extracts organics from various waste types including packaged food waste and pre-treated municipal solid waste. More than 1500 units are installed in Japan since 2000. Various treatment capacity is available to accommodate numerous needs of organic extraction and plastic recovery. Applications: Waste produced from the production line of food & beverage items and medical drugs, supermarket waste separation, MSW treatment, separation of gypsum board, etc.

The depacker can achieve high separation rate of organics from various types of waste. The separation rate can be as high as 99.9% for the non-organic stream: the organic stream will consists of 100% organics. It requires a small footprint as shown in the table below.

Refs: polymer super-absorbent for organic spills

Macro-polymers to remove organic pollutants from your liquid and solid waste and oily effluents. It uses an innovative technology to internally bind these pollutants in polymer matrices and turn them into a viscoelastic and hydrophobic mass that can be used as alternative fuels in a coal fired power plant. This technology can be used to:

  • clean up accidental oil spills in water bodies and on paved surfaces
  • remove the pure liquid phase of pollutants
  • wash contaminated soils
  • remove emulsified/dissolved oils and hydrocarbons from industrial effluents and liquid waste
  • remove the animal and vegetable oils, grease, and lipid emulsions from food processing industries’ liquid and solid

Contamination by organic pollutants continues to threaten our environment.
Refs contain no harmful chemicals, are operator friendly (light and remain dry and powdery after absorption) allowing an easy collection of pollutants such as oils, hydrocarbons, organic solvents and PCB-containing oils, and will not desorb the captured pollutant. In addition, the absorptive reaction time is short, and the used Refs can be completely incinerated and used as a fuel material if the quantity allows.

IFAT 2018

IFAT held in Munich, Germany is the world’s largest comprehensive environmental exhibition with more than 3000 exhibitors and a total of 140,000 visitors. Using all 20 halls, it is divided into 13 themes ranging from waste disposal / recycling to water treatment.

Upon request from the Hiroshima Environmental Business Promotion Council, Prometek organised the Hiroshima Pavilion at IFAT 2018. More 100 visitors visited us in 5 days. Seven companies related to water and waste disposal (4 companies were present at the pavillion, and the rest presented their products and technologies using posters). Visitors from all over the world visited the Pavilion.

Aquatech 2017

Aquatech held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands is the largest water business exhibition in the world. Once every two years, it will be held in November of odd years and more than 20,000 visitors come from about 140 countries around the world.

Prometek coordinated the Hiroshima Pavilion upon request from the Hiroshima Environmental Business Promotion Council. We carried out the preparation of the presentation materials (posters and hand-outs), stand design, administrative tasks, as well as the travel arrangement. More than 100 visitors visited the Hiroshima Pavilion in 4 days. The pavilion presented 10 Hiroshima companies related to water treatment (3 companies presented at their booths, and 7 companies with poster presentation).
